The 2017-2018 “Fun & Friendship Bowling League
Season bowling will commence on Tuesday, September 5th and Friday, September 8th
at Idle Hour Lanes (Route 6, Eynon). Both Tuesday and Friday bowling practice begins at 4:45pm and league bowling begins promptly at 4:50pm. You must be on time!!! The season consists of approximately 30 weeks and will conclude at the end of April. Bowling will cost $9.00 per bowler per week, if unable to bowl there is an absent fee of $3.00 per week. Bowling fees must be paid on a weekly basis to The Arc recreation staff before you begin bowling.

Welcome back! Join us for an Ice Cream Social and Advisory Meeting!!! All of Lackawanna County is invited to attend our Advisory Meeting at Aylesworth Park, Jermyn from 6:00pm to 8:00pm!!!! Bring your ideas and wish list for your 2017/2018 Recreation Program Plans! You will make your own sundaes and enjoy a social hour with your friends.
Reservations are required by Monday, September 4, 2017.

Reach for the Stars! Back by popular demand, let’s light up the sky! We will go to the Thomas Cupillari Astronomy Observatory at Keystone College from 6:00pm to 8:00pm! There will be an illustrated presentation and we will be able to look through the telescopes to view the moon, planet Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn. Double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies also will be viewed. See backside for directions.
Reservations are due by Monday, September 11, 2017.

“Minute to Win It” at The Arc from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Join us in Playing “Minute to Win It” TV game show! You will be competing in quirky games such as the Facial Cookie Race, Human Bowling Balls competition, Human Hungry, Hungry Hippo games, the Cotton Ball challenge and many more fun filled games! We will even have table competitions too! Drinks and Snacks will be provided.

Join us for our annual Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness and Family Fun Day! 12:00-4:00 Camp Speers YMCA 143 Nichecronk Rd, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania 18328 Family Fun Event including crafts, games, raffles, character appearances, music, kids entertainment, and more! We will have a ceremonial walk in support of those with Down syndrome and an inclusive community. THIS IS NOT A 5K. The YMCA Dunmore will be hosting a Hawaiian Luau from 6:00pm to 8:00pm! Did you know that the Hawaiian Luau began as an accompaniment to the oral storytelling traditions of those islands, conveying the literal meaning of a tale? A Hula is a Polynesian dance form accompanied by chant or song. It was developed in the Hawaiian Islands by the Polynesians who originally settled there. The hula dramatizes or portrays the words of the into a visual dance form. In Hawaii, one of the most important traditions is a couple will celebrate by having a giant luau feast on their child's first birthday this is to celebrate his survival through his first year of life. So put on your Leis, grab a Hula Hoop and dance like you are portraying your story! We will be feasting on pizza, drinks and a snack!

The Parents of Down Syndrome of NEPA will host the 16th Annual Buddy Walk this year at Nay Aug Park in Scranton. The Buddy Walk celebrates National Down syndrome Awareness Month and the goal is to promote understanding and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. Hundreds of people attend where they enjoy the festivities and participate in the walk. Thank you for all your past and continued support in helping to make the Buddy Walk a HUGE success!
